TECH21 has completed the first signature model by a Japanese artist, the “BASS DRIVER DI-J” sans amp, under the full supervision of J (LUNA SEA), with J’s trademark Maria image designed on the entire top surface of the chassis. The result is an unprecedented, overwhelming impact. The new J is equipped with a switch to adjust the bass frequency to cover the lower registers of 5- and 6-string basses and other instruments. It also has a midrange control and a switch to adjust that frequency. J’s “This completes the sans amplifier. Nowadays, amp simulators should be familiar to anyone who plays bass or guitar, but back then, it was like, what the heck is that? I was like, “What the heck is that? There was a circuit limitation to boosting the bass with the bass itself, and there was a limitation to driving the sound with an amp, so I introduced the Sands amp because I wanted to have something that could drive the sound even more. When I decided to make a signature model this time, some people suggested that I change the circuit inside. But I have been using it for a long time, and I feel that the Sands amp is complete in my opinion. If I can’t create a certain sound texture with this amp, I can create it with the amp, with the bass, or with the way I play it. I think sans amps are great because there is room for these kinds of things. The nuances of the player’s playing habits and phrasing come out. That’s what I like about it. I don’t have a lot of tips on how to use it, but I’d say it’s a matter of feel. To put it more politely, the point where you need to hook the bass will depend on what kind of sound quality you are using, and which bandwidth you need to boost will depend on what kind of amp you are playing with. Some players themselves are fingerpickers, while others are pickers. Some are strong pickers, while others are delicate pickers. I think it’s good to find your good point sensitively.
