VOIGTLANDER Prominent II Rangefinder Camera with Skoparon Wide-Angle Lens Voigtlander Prominent II, a high-quality rangefinder camera with many unique and unusual design features. This was the most advanced rangefinder camera made by Voigtlander. The camera was produced from 1958 to 1960. The total production volume was about 6,500 units. Film advance and shutter cocking via a double-stroke rapid advance lever on the right-hand side of the camera. Automatic frame counting with dial display underneath the advance lever. Flash-synchronized Synchro-Compur leaf shutter (B, 1 – 1/500 sec) located behind the lens. Shutter has a unique double set of shutter blades to eliminate light leakage. The set of rear blades are opened first by the action of the shutter release button, then the front blades open under control of the regular shutter mechanism. (A catch keeps the rear blades open till the front shutter blades are closed.) Switch to select X or M synchronization. Built-in self timer; in the classical Compur shutter fashion, the timer is activated by moving the shutter cocking lever beyond the first stop as far as it will go. Bright-frame finder with frames for 35, 50, 100, and 150mm lenses. Coupled rangefinder with the focusing wheel on the top left of the camera. Display of the distance and the depth-of-field underneath the focusing wheel on top of the camera. Distance scale in feet. Body serial number B 72658. Bayonet-mounted interchangeable 1:3.5 35mm Skoparon lens. Serial number of the lens (engraved on the outside of the front ring) is 3 741 961 (made in 1955). The camera comes with the following accessories:Voigtlander lens cap (a piece of the rim is missing)bottom half of Voigtlander leather case a CD with Voigtlander instruction manuals and catalogs The camera body is in good condition and is fully functional. Shutter works at all speeds, self-timer and flash contact function, focusing action is smooth. There is some cloudiness on the right-hand side of the finder as seen from the front. When looking through the finder from the back, the rangefinder window and the frame lines are still reasonably clear and easily visible (but not like new!). Please see the last picture which show the frame lines for the 50 and 100mm lenses (I could not get the frame lines for the 35mm lens into the picture). The coincidence rangefinder produces a bright, easily visible, double image with good vertical and horizontal (at infinity) alignment. Chrome and leather covering in good shape.
